About Seeley Lake

Change Your Pace

The vibrant and charming town of Seeley Lake lies between the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Mission Mountain Wilderness and follows along the Glacier Parkway, joining the communities of the Seeley-Swan Valley while serving as gateways to Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

When Jasper B. Seeley came to the Clearwater Valley near the end of the 19th century, he never imagined that the small cabin he erected next to the lake and the town that would follow would bear his family name. Now, the town of Seeley Lake and the lake itself are a dedication to his family and a monument to one of Montana's most spectacular areas.

Just 85 miles southeast of Kalispell and 50 miles northeast of Missoula, Seeley Lake is a destination spot like none other. The 1,025 acre lake is a huge attraction for people who want to boat, ski, fish, and recreate. The small town, boasting a population of 2,000, increases to almost twice that size during the summer months. Rent a canoe and ride the Clearwater Canoe Trail. Grab a tube or your wakeboard and hit the waves on the back of a boat. Fish the waters by boat or along the shore. Or just sit on the shore and relax in the perfect solitude.

The surrounding area is ringed by awe-inspiring mountain ranges and pristine wilderness. The Bob Marshall Wilderness and the Mission Mountain Wilderness flank both sides of Seeley Lake, giving way to over a million acres of roadless back-country. Coupled with the Seeley-Swan Chain of Lakes connected together by the Clearwater and Swan Rivers, you have a special place with a lot to offer.

Interested in an especially scenic hike? Enjoy the easy 4.5 mile roundtrip hike to the stunning Morrell Falls where you will experience the beauty of the forests of Western Montana. In the winter months, Seeley Lake also offers world class snowmobiling and breathtaking views. With access to over 350 miles of trails right from town, you won’t soon forget a day of riding in Seeley Lake.

Beyond the usual outdoor activities, you will also find other fun things to do in and around town. Seeley Lake has unique shops that supply crafts and daily essentials. There are several festivals throughout the year, including the Loon and Fish Festival and the Tamarack Festival. If you happen to be in town during the Fourth of July, you'll experience a wonderful firework display over the lake. You can also find horseback riding and downhill skiing just around the corner. And be sure to make a stop at the Ice Cream Place during the summer months, where you can grab a milkshake, sundae, or a burger on your way to the next activity.

You have to see all of Seeley Lake to believe it. To do that, call the real estate agents at Clearwater Montana Properties. They have extensive knowledge of the town and surrounding areas and are ready to help you find the property of your dreams.
